Indianapolis to Host?World Food Championships' Final Table?in May 2020
DALLAS, TX (Friday, Oct. 18, 2019) ??Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch accompanied World Food Championships (WFC) CEO Mike McCloud today at his announcement that Indianapolis has been selected to host the WFC Final Table in May 2020.?
In joining McCloud for the announcement,?Lt. Governor Crouch stated:
?Our capital city and the entire State of Indiana welcomes the World Food Championships and we are proud to have this unique opportunity to showcase the 'Culinary Crossroads of America.'
?Earlier this year we began working directly with Team Indiana to support the Indiana competitors and brands represented at this competition. It is part of an overall initiative focused on highlighting the people, products, services and destinations which define our state?s culinary landscape and make Indiana a tremendous place to live, work and play.
?Indiana has played host to the largest sporting events in the world, and we take great pride in being the state where champions are crowned. Having the Final Table during the month of May will make it even more special for the competitors and guests as they experience the city and state during the Indianapolis Grand Prix.?
The WFC Final Table will provide Indianapolis and the state the opportunity to showcase some of the city and state?s premier culinary treasures which have led to Indianapolis being recognized by Zagat as one of the ?30 Most Exciting Food Cities? and named by Cond? Nast Traveler as one of 2018?s "Best Cities for Domestic Travel."
Lt. Governor Crouch also traveled to Dallas to demonstrate support for Team Indiana at the World Food Championships.
?Working with our public and private sector partners to sponsor Team Indiana and ultimately bring the WFC Final Table to Indianapolis is just the beginning of our plan to leverage Indiana?s leadership in the culinary community to the benefit of our workforce development and recruitment efforts.??
Current plans call for the WFC Final Table activities to take place May 8-10, 2020, with the actual cooking competitions to be held at the Ivy Tech Community College Culinary and Conference Center. Shortly following the conclusion of the World Food Championships in Dallas, WFC organizers will begin working with a local advisory group to outline details for the competition and associated special events.?
