These past few weeks have been filled with immense environmental and social challenges. If you’re like me, you’re both exhausted by the enormity of the issues and invigorated by calls to action such as this one from the brilliant Leah Cardamore Stokes: “Let’s dig in today to shift the system—and tomorrow and the day after.” Yes, let’s do exactly that.

We launched the Tom Ford Plastic Innovation Prize call for innovators earlier this spring and on August 19th we’re launching our Unwrap the Future Live discussion series where I host incredible experts as we dive deep into solutions. And we released the inaugural issue of our OH-WAKE Magazine, written by youth leaders and for youth leaders. You can learn more below.
Lately, when I find myself feeling tired, I have turned to the pages of All We Can Save, a beautiful anthology featuring stories from female climate leaders. I have been so inspired that our Lonely Whale team is launching an All We Can Save Circle - an opportunity to create community with one another, find meaning and dig in to shift the system together. OH-WAKE Magazine - Issue #1 Available
Launched on World Oceans Day 2021, thanks to generous support from HP, Inc., OH-WAKE [[link removed]] is a new quarterly publication from 52HZ created by youth activists from around the world who share their stories, their hopes for a better tomorrow and the solutions they believe will address the crisis we all face.
OH-WAKE is available in print for purchase online and digital download formats. Issue #2 will be released October 11th 2021. Become a monthly subscriber [[link removed]] to put copies in the hands of youth who cannot afford their own printed version.

Tom Ford Plastic Innovation Prize - Submissions Are Open!
~180 billion single-use, non-recyclable thin-film plastic polybags are used every single year by the fashion industry. 🤯
The Tom Ford Plastic Innovation Prize [[link removed]] opened for submissions on May 18th to find a biologically degradable solution to thin film, which contributes to almost half of plastic waste in our oceans. With more than 100 applications in process, we are very optimistic about finding commercially viable, scalable solutions that meet Prize criteria. Finalists will be announced by February 2022. Submissions close October 24th.
