Friend, The 7.2 magnitude earthquake that rocked Haiti over the weekend has left more than 1,900 people dead, 9,900 injured, and tens of thousands homeless. Allen Joseph, Deputy Program Manager, shared an update from the epicenter:
Tropical Storm Grace has since made our response efforts even more difficult, as many areas are flooded. But our team members — the vast majority of whom are Haitian citizens — are working through the challenges to purchase and distribute urgently needed supplies. Your gift can help Mercy Corps respond to crises in places like Haiti, Yemen, and in countries across the world. Will you make a gift today to support global emergency response efforts?
Thousands of buildings have collapsed and access roads to Nippes may be blocked following the 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Haiti.
We know the work won’t be easy. In Haiti, this earthquake is another setback on top of existing political instability, rising COVID-19 rates, and alarming levels of hunger and poverty. But our team is determined to do what it takes to help people and communities in places like Haiti, in this moment and beyond. Send your donation today and your gift will go where it’s needed most to help people around the world recover from crises ▸ Thank you for whatever you can give, The Mercy Corps Team |
