We're taking on a pet food slaughterhouse.
We are calling on the U.S. Government and the state of New Jersey to enforce federal and state laws against Bravo Packing Inc.* and live animal hauler J&S Barr, LLC, for allegedly violating the federal Humane Methods of Slaughter Act, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, New Jersey’s Humane Treatment of Domestic Livestock law, and New Jersey's animal cruelty law.

Despite years of allegations supported by video, audio and photographic evidence depicting abhorrent and unlawful mistreatment of cows and horses, Bravo has continued abusing animals without criminal penalties. Government inspections cite egregious violations of pet and exotic animal food safety protocol, threatening the health and welfare of people and animals exposed to Bravo’s tainted products.

In our most recent investigation ([link removed]) , our investigator recorded video footage ([link removed]) of a "downed" cow being delivered and cruelly slaughtered at Bravo Packing Inc., suffering multiple head traumas along the way.
The company has a long history of troubling animal abuse allegations ([link removed]) and pet and exotic animal food safety concerns. ([link removed].) Yet it has failed to resolve dangerous contamination issues despite complaints, FDA warnings and at least two recalls.

Past violations include exotic animal food made from horses that was contaminated with the euthanasia drug pentobarbital as well as repeated instances of Salmonella contamination in the plant’s Performance Dog Diet food.
For years, Bravo has abused and neglected countless cows and horses with impunity ([link removed]) . While the FDA has imposed penalties and prompted recalls for a variety of pet and exotic animal food safety issues identified at Bravo in recent years—including in March 2021 after we filed a complaint ([link removed]) —no agency has taken meaningful action against Bravo for countless acts of animal cruelty.
