Hi John, this is Janet Mills, Governor of Maine.

When I first took office, no one, including me, could have imagined that we would face a worldwide pandemic that would fundamentally change how we lived our daily lives. Our state, our whole country, has been through so much this year. We have been tested, but despite it all, the people of Maine have shown courage, compassion, and perseverance to see us through these difficult times.

That perseverance has put Maine on the map as one of the top states in confronting this pandemic. Together, by believing in science and looking at facts and data, we have saved lives, kept people healthy and safe, and kept our economy afloat. It is that same perseverance that is our prerequisite for the future, our password to success, and our passport for getting our state back on track.

With that perseverance, our state will prevail.

We have been through a lot, but I still believe the best chapter in our state’s history has yet to be written, and I want to write it with you. Thank you for always being a part of my team, and standing by my side.
