This is where all the action happens.

Friend,

Let's talk about the desperate attack the NRCC recently launched at us.

It started when I went to the Capitol steps to join the sit-in Rep. Cori Bush bravely led to protest pandemic evictions.

I came not just to express my support, but to listen to what organizers had to say about the housing crisis and the impact it's having on people all over the country.

Representation is about showing up and listening, and I learned a lot that day. But I can't say I was especially surprised when the NRCC jumped on the opportunity to push another absurd attack against me, falsely accusing me of wanting to “defund the police.”

This is their same, tired playbook. It’s the kind of absurd and divisive attack we're going to see more of in the run-up to the next election -- and your support is my first line of defense.

We've started an NRCC Defense Fund, and we're just a couple thousand dollars short of our goal -- so we've extended our deadline to midnight tonight! Can you rush a contribution now to fortify our campaign against Republicans' divisive attacks?

The conversations I had at the sit-in were eye-opening. Try to imagine the struggle of going to work or school if you don't have a roof over your head at night. It was humbling to talk with people, including Rep. Bush, who had experienced eviction firsthand.

My decision to join the sit-in? That was optimism in action. And sure enough, thanks to Rep. Bush's leadership, the Biden administration did the right thing and extended the eviction ban -- signaling to millions of at-risk families that their government won't leave them behind.

Here's what the NRCC doesn't like about me: I'm not afraid to listen to -- or work with -- people to my right or my left. That's how we identify common ground and achieve meaningful results for the common good.

I hope you'll invest in my campaign today so we can fend off the next round of attacks the NRCC launches at us. If you can -- and only if you can -- please chip in the NRCC Defense Fund before midnight tonight.

Thanks for all you do,

Dean
