Hello John,

I am thrilled to announce the keynote address for the 42nd Annual NPH Affordable Housing Conference: Grounding in Historical and Current Realities to Advance an Anti-Racist Housing Movement for Justice and Liberation.

Registration closes September 10

This year’s keynote will inspire us all to roll up our sleeves and build an anti-racist housing justice movement that will go the distance and centers racial equity in our organizations as well as the broader affordable housing industry.

Part I: Nikole Hannah-Jones will ground us in the historical racist roots and structures of our country’s housing policy so that we can understand what our role as a sector and movement must be to achieve true housing justice.

Part II: Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II will share his story and leadership, inspiring us to strengthen and sustain our movement as we collectively fight for justice and liberation for all our neighbors and communities.

About our keynote speakers:

Nikole Hannah-Jones is the Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of the 1619 Project and a staff writer at The New York Times Magazine. She has spent her career investigating racial inequality and injustice, and her reporting has earned her the MacArthur Fellowship, known as the Genius grant, a Peabody Award, two George Polk Awards and the National Magazine Award three times.

Reverend Dr. William J. Barber II is the President and Senior Lecturer of Repairers of the Breach and Co-Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign. There are currently 45 states coordinating committees across the country, mobilizing around the Poor People's Jubilee Platform and We Must Do M.O.R.E. (mobilize, organize, register, and educate people for a movement that votes).

We already know that housing justice is racial justice. Our Conference keynote will bring knowledge and inspiration so that our industry can put this into practice in real and impactful ways.

I look forward to seeing you there!
