Dear Friend, I’m emailing you in solidarity with our friend and colleague, who is desperately trying to get his sisters and brothers out of Afghanistan. His family members are among tens of thousands whose lives are at risk for standing up for women’s rights, human rights and working as translators and contractors for the United States government. Women who’ve stood up for their rights are at special risk of harm. Please take action today. The United States government failed to plan for the evacuation of those who need refuge. There will be time for accountability, but what we need immediately is more action to ensure that no one is left behind and no more lives are lost. Please send an email to your Members of Congress and President Biden demanding that they do more to evacuate not only the 30,000 people who have applied for Special Immigrant Visas, but also tens of thousands of more women and men at great risk. It is not enough to evacuate United States government staff. We must stand with those who stood with the United States and stood up for their rights. |
