Tina Peters, a Mesa County clerk, is accused of allowing information to be leaked to Ron Watkins, a major Q-Anon backer considered by some to be the mastermind behind Q-Anon.
On August 2nd, this illegally obtained information regarding sensitive voting procedures was leaked to the social media channel of a famous QAnon backer, Ron Watkins. Many journalists and researchers familiar with the topic speculate that Ron and his father are the masterminds behind the entire 'Q-Anon' operation.
Needless to say, this security breach is unacceptable. A clerk leaking secure information to a known Q-Anon supporter shines light upon the precarious state in which our democracy currently finds itself.
This violation of election security did not take place within a vacuum and it is worth noting that the Congresswoman for Mesa County, Lauren Boebert, is an ardent supporter of Q-Anon, who continues to push the lie that the 2020 Election was stolen from Trump.
To combat these breaches, we need to support strong Democratic leaders like, Secretary of State Griswold, who will take the necessary precautions to keep our elections secure. We also need to do everything we can to ensure that Q-Anon supporters like Congresswoman Boebert and Tina Peters do not hold positions of power.
