Next week House Democrats are preparing to vote on a revised version of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act that would restore key voting provisions struck down by the Supreme Court in 2013.

Majority Leader Chuck Schumer plans to put this critical legislation on the Senate floor when we return in September.

Passing federal legislation to protect voting rights and ensure our elections are held securely and legitimately must be a top priority. Nothing is more important to our democratic system right now.

This all-out Republican assault on our democracy, fueled by Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” and funded by conservative mega donors must be stopped. It won’t be easy, but the most important fights never are. We need all hands on deck to get this and the For the People Act across the finish line.
