John,
The United States Postal Service (USPS) plays a crucial role in our lives and is central to our election infrastructure. This was made abundantly clear during the 2020 presidential election when, amidst the coronavirus pandemic, 43.1% of voters cast their ballots by mail.1 The Postal Service played a huge part in our ability to have a safe, fair, and secure election.
But right now the Postmaster General appointed by President Trump, Louis DeJoy, is pushing a plan that would slow down our mail and increase prices for consumers!2 Luckily, there’s a bipartisan bill awaiting a vote in Congress that would eliminate unfair and onerous financial burdens on the Postal Service that similar agencies don’t face, allow the USPS to offer non-postal services like fishing licenses that will bring in revenue, and reduce the financial pressure on the Postal Service that DeJoy is using as an excuse for his service cuts and price hikes.
Write to your legislators today and tell them to support the Postal Service Reform Act.
A functioning and efficient Postal Service is vital for our country and democracy. We must ensure that one of the crown jewels of American infrastructure is well supported and empowered to continue delivering for the American people.
Tell Congress: Support the bipartisan Postal Service Reform Act!
Onward,
