Hi friends,

Just ten days ago, a Montana judge ruled in favor of the 16 youth plaintiffs in Held v. State of Montana, validating that they can pursue their claims that Montana’s fossil fuel-friendly policies violate these young people’s constitutional rights. This historic ruling places the youth on the path to trial where they will present evidence of the climate harms caused by their own government.

Join Us This Thursday!
Last Friday, we gathered online to discuss this crucial moment in U.S. climate litigation and what will come next in this constitutional climate case in Big Sky Country (if you missed our event, you can watch the recording here!) This Thursday, we’re gathering again to discuss how this historic ruling intersects with our other youth-led climate cases. What might this Montana ruling mean for Juliana v. United States? How does it align with the recent global climate litigation victories we’ve seen around the world? What does the new IPCC report mean for this case or other Our Children’s Trust legal actions?

Please join us this Thursday at 12pm PDT/3pm EDT to discuss these questions and more!

6th Anniversary of Juliana v. U.S.: You Sustain Our Efforts
Last Thursday also marked the sixth anniversary of the filing of our landmark federal constitutional climate case, Juliana v. United States. This means that FOR SIX YEARS the 21 Juliana youth plaintiffs have doggedly pursued climate justice in the courts. For some of them, this is almost half or one-third of their lives! And, despite the numerous hurdles and barriers put in their path by three consecutive presidential administrations and their Departments of Justice, Juliana v. U.S. endures and is poised for another win.

The attorneys at Our Children’s Trust are proud to represent and support these young people - and their fellow young plaintiffs in state and global cases like Held v. State of Montana - each and every day. Thanks to your generous support all these years, we’ve been able to do so all at no cost to them or their families. Please make a contribution today to support our ongoing efforts to secure a durable solution to the climate crisis for youth today and tomorrow. Thank you for your generosity.

See You Thursday!
It’s an exciting time for youth-led climate litigation and we look forward to sharing with you how this important decision in Montana is emblematic of our ongoing efforts to protect youths’ constitutional rights to a safe climate in the U.S. and around the world.

As always, thank you for your support,

The Team at Our Children’s Trust
