I’m going to be upfront with you -- this email is a fundraising gimmick. I’m asking you to donate $5 before my mid-quarter fundraising deadline to help me defend my seat from 5 Republican opponents.

While this ask might seem silly, my reason for asking couldn’t be more serious. Some of my Republican opponents still won’t admit that President Biden won the 2020 election, VA-02 is currently rated an R+1 district, and the NRCC has named me a top target for 2022.

There’s a lot at stake here.

$5 may seem like an insignificant amount, but if everyone reading this email made a $5 contribution, I’d meet my next FEC fundraising goal within minutes.

So, can I count on you to chip in $5 today to give me the resources to defend my seat from the far-right Trump loyalists trying to unseat me?
