On November 6, 2020, I lost my reelection campaign to represent Utah’s 4th District — a district that encompassed most of Salt Lake County, where I proudly served as mayor for six years and state senator for four years.

It was a crushing defeat. While I spent my time in the House working my tail off for the people of the 4th district, pursuing common-sense and bipartisan solutions to our country’s biggest problems, Republicans still found a way to paint me as a radical extremist.

The GOP's smear campaign falsely branded me as a supporter of Communist China, with a story that was so bogus that I eventually got it pulled from the air.

But the damage was already done, John.

I lost my chance to represent Utah in Congress because of shameless Republican lies. And this year, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure it doesn't happen again.
