Friends-
I am heartbroken by the events taking place in Afghanistan.
After two decades and the loss of thousands of American lives, the precipitous deterioration of this situation has left many of us with more questions than answers.

Most Americans agree that it is time for our military men and women to come home, but this needed to be accomplished in a thoughtful and strategic fashion. As we approach the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001, a hotbed for terrorist activity has now been created in the Middle East.
We need to know what information Joe Biden received from the intelligence community that led him to make the decision to hastily withdraw American troops from
Afghanistan and if he followed the recommendations of his foreign policy and national security advisors.
We also need to know why he didn't establish a functioning visa process for the Afghan interpreters and our partners who are most at risk under the brutal Taliban regime prior to withdrawal.
Many military advisors warned that a swift removal of U.S. troops could lead to the same terrorist threats our country saw more than 20 years ago. The President's apparent disregard for their concerns has now led to an unmitigated national security disaster.

More American troops are currently in Afghanistan than when Biden announced the United States' withdrawal, all while our southern border remains wide open for anyone to enter our country illegally.
