John,
Last week, Senate Democrats stood united in passing a bold budget resolution that set a framework for advancing President Biden’s $3.5 trillion Build Back Better agenda through budget reconciliation. Early next week, that same budget resolution will be voted on in the House of Representatives.
Even though the budget framework will be almost entirely paid for by making the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share in taxes, some conservative Democrats are concerned that $3.5 trillion is too much to invest. They are also worried about taxing the rich and corporations too much. Some of them are threatening to block passage of this historic measure if the bipartisan infrastructure bill does not pass first—possibly a ploy to force Speaker Pelosi to significantly shrink the budget package.[1]
If we want to pass the most ambitious investment in working people since the New Deal and unrig our tax code so we reward work, not wealth, we can't afford to lose a single Senate Democrat and we can only afford to lose three House Democrats.
We need to drive thousands of letters to Capitol Hill this week, before the House returns for just 24 hours to vote early next week. Click here to write to your U.S. representative today!
We can’t allow a few members of Congress to sell working families short and let billionaires and tax-dodging corporations continue paying nothing in federal income taxes. We need the Build Back Better agenda, now!
Our letter writing tool is easy to use.
When you enter in your information, we’ll find and target your letter to your representative. We’ve provided suggested text, but your letter can make an even greater impact if you edit it and say it in your own words.
Click here to write to your U.S. representative and demand they vote YES on a $3.5 trillion budget that invests in working families―paid for by fairer taxes on the rich and corporations.
There are only a few days left until the House returns for just 24 hours to vote on this historic package. Our national poll tells us that this is what 62% of the American people want. Make sure your representative gets the message!
Thank you for taking action and standing with working families,
