Friend,

Right-wing talk radio host Larry Elder is one of the most dangerous
COVID-19 conspiracy theorists in California.

And he’s on the verge of becoming the next governor of the largest state
in the union.(1)

Elder has pushed the conspiracy theory that the COVID-19 vaccine is a
population control method created by Bill Gates. He promoted the idea that
the Delta variant was intentionally unleashed by the government.(2)

But because of the arcane rules of the recall process, he could win with
just a small fraction of the vote. Polls show that the California recall
election is within three points, and Republican voters are far more fired
up to vote than Democrats. That means California could go the way of Texas
and Florida.

We’ve seen the damage caused by Republican governors in Florida, Texas,
and Arkansas, where COVID-19 rates are skyrocketing beyond even what we
saw last winter.

If that happens in a state as large as California, it would be a disaster.

Larry Elder has promised, if elected, never to allow any kind of mask or
vaccine mandates in California.(3) And if COVID-19 is allowed to explode
in the Golden State the way it is across the South, we have no chance of
crushing this virus.

The latest polls in the Republican recall are basically tied. Republicans
are eager to vote, while Democratic voters aren't paying attention, assume
we’ll win, and may not turn out to vote at all.(4)

Courage California is partnering with Communities for a New California and
Inland Empire United to reach youth in regions with the most recall
support, holding a vote-rallying town hall, and ramping up our media
strategy to make sure that people know they need to vote to save our state
from anti-vaxxers and Trumpers come September.
