A message from ECPAT-USA’s CEO, Lori Cohen -
Dear Friends,
Happy National Nonprofit Day! This day recognizes the important role of nonprofit organizations in our communities. Thanks to the generosity and dedication of our supporters, ECPAT-USA has led the movement to prevent child sexual exploitation and trafficking. So, for this National Nonprofit Day, ECPAT-USA would like to celebrate you. Together, we have made much progress in child protection:
- Last year, ECPAT-USA’s Youth Against Trafficking Instagram (@youthagainsttrafficking) saw a 363% growth in followers;
- More than 4,000 people have accessed our online safety guides for children, parents/guardians, and educators. These guides are available in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese;
- Over 500,000 members of the hospitality industry have completed ECPAT-USA’s free trafficking prevention e-learning training, Your Role in Preventing Human Trafficking;
- The Trafficking Victims and Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000 is currently up for reauthorization in Congress. ECPAT-USA has been actively engaged with Congressional offices to address the following needs: additional support for survivors, restitution for all victims of trafficking, housing support services, and increased reporting and data collection systems to better serve vulnerable populations.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to keeping kids safe. Happy National Nonprofit Day from all of us at ECPAT-USA!
With gratitude,
Lori L. Cohen
