The U.S. Census Bureau just released its final census data, and Republican lawmakers across the country are already racing to draw up heavily partisan district maps that could unfairly cement their control over Congress and state legislatures for the next 10 years.
Our only option is to pass the For the People Act, which would ensure fair districting, ban partisan gerrymandering, and ensure fair access to the ballot for every voter regardless of race, gender, age, or party identification.
Senate Republicans continue to block debate on the For the People Act, but there is hope:
Senate leadership held a vote on For the People Act last week because of the massive nationwide movement we built this year, and keeping the pressure up will force Senators to return to D.C. with a plan to pass For the People Act, including overcoming the filibuster.
Tell your Senator that failure is not an option. The Senate must pass the For the People Act for the people, and to let nothing, including the Jim Crow filibuster, stand in their way.
