My name is Gwen Levi. Many people learned of me when the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) tried to send me from home confinement back to prison because I didn’t answer a phone call during a computer class.

How stupid! I had been on home confinement for more than a year, sent home with thousands of others due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I recently joined FAMM as spokesperson for their #KeepThemHome campaign. Just as FAMM fought for me, I am helping them fight for the 4,000 people who deserve to stay home with their families.

The overwhelming majority of people sent to home confinement have followed the rules and successfully reintegrated into their families and communities. They were never told they might have to go back to prison, but a legal opinion issued in the final days of the Trump administration will require their return — unless President Biden acts.

FAMM and others are urging the president to use his authority to keep people home, ensuring they stay with their families rather than be sent back to prison. This is just one of the many ways FAMM is fighting to fix our broken criminal justice system.
