While there is a lot to discuss when talking about the situation in Afghanistan, I think our first and foremost concern is about the innocent civilians that are desperately trying to flee and need our help.

The Washington Post recently reported that there are around 88,000 Afghans eligible for Special Immigrant Visas but only 2,000 have made it to the United States.

These are people who aided the U.S government along the way, such as interpreters, that are from Afghanistan and in Afghanistan, who may not have a safe way out.

Tell President Biden to grant political asylum to all Afghans and speed up the evacuation of the Afghans eligible for Special Immigrant Visas.

The United States occupation of Afghanistan that began two decades ago couldn’t go on forever.

Upon the exit of U.S. military forces, the Afghanistan government collapsed.

Barbara Lee was right to vote against granting President Bush the authorization to use military force in the wake of 9/11.

Nothing good has come from this war.

Hundreds of thousands of Afghans have died, many of them children, millions have fled their homes and tens of thousands of U.S soldiers have been killed or injured.

There is an enormous, unnecessary loss of life and in the end, the Taliban still controls the country.

We have to make sure that the civilians facing danger after our decades-long war are safe.

Stand with DFA and tell President Biden to grant political asylum to all Afghans and speed up the evacuation of the Afghans eligible for Special Immigrant Visas.
