Summer has been exciting at Spread The Vote. As our staff and volunteers have gotten vaccinated they've been back on the streets and visiting our partners and clients in person. It has been so nice to get back to the shelters and schools, jails and even the DMV, seeing our patients in person, getting more and more IDs, and feeling just a tiny bit that life, and our work, is back to normal.
I am constantly amazed by our incredible team but perhaps never more than during this pandemic. Last spring, our staff and volunteers immediately began working on plans to make our work virtual and worked hard for over a year to serve our clients the best they could. And then, as soon as a vaccine was available, they jumped up, got jabbed, and got back to work. What an incredible group of humans.
We have also spent the summer building new partnerships everywhere from New Orleans to Los Angeles and Oakland to New York. Our incredible partners were a huge reason that we were able to get IDs every week of the lockdown and have made our work so much more impactful. One of the greatest joys of doing this work is that we get to meet and work with really really good people all over the country.
We are now in the last days of summer, and while we're working to be as cautious as possible with this new variant (mask up everyone!) we are also trying to help as many of clients as we can before fall elections and the winter cold. I can hardly believe that we're heading into yet another election cycle, but I'm grateful for our amazing teams, a warm summer, and mostly, for science. Thanks science!
Thank you as always for your support, and enjoy the last days of summer.
