** Our Afghan Allies need your help.

By now, you’ve likely seen the distressing headlines and images coming out of Kabul. At LIRS, we are devastated by the fall of Afghanistan's elected government and our hearts break for our Afghan allies, their families, and all those in grave danger of Taliban retaliation. Our prayers are with our imperiled Afghan neighbors and we stand in solidarity with all those who are living in fear.

At this time, the immediate evacuation of American citizens, our Afghan allies, and other vulnerable groups is our central focus. We remain hopeful that the U.S. military will be able to secure the airport in Kabul and restore order. Our priority is ensuring that a safe channel is established for evacuation.

LIRS is doing everything we can to save as many lives as possible and serve those who have already arrived in the United States—but we need your help.

Below, please find five ways you can take action to support Afghan families.
We are calling for on-the-ground volunteers to support Afghan Allies, particularly Special Immigrant Visa holders who have been or will be evacuated to the United States.

When our Afghan allies and their families arrive as “walk-ins,” they often have no money, nowhere to stay, and nothing to eat. Unfortunately, there is typically a 5-7 day gap between the families’ arrivals and the services they are eligible to receive through the United States resettlement program.

This is where you can help. Your financial gift to Neighbors in Need: Afghan Allies will provide food, housing assistance, clothing, and other basic needs for our Afghan friends as they await the official services available to them.

Send a message to President Biden and Congress today! Urge them to provide urgent humanitarian protections, including immediate evacuation, for those who have put their lives on the line for our country and are now at risk.
