Dear Friend,
The Biden Administration announced today a HUGE victory for the anti-hunger movement and for the tens of millions of Americans struggling with food insecurity. Starting in October, every SNAP household will see a 25-percent increase on average in SNAP benefits. For a family of four, they'll receive an additional $136 per month. And this boost in benefits is permanent.
At Hunger Free America, we are thrilled with this upcoming change, as it's something we've been advocating for years. For the 42 million Americans who rely on SNAP to meet their nutritional needs each month, this increase in benefits is a significant improvement that will allow more households to afford healthier food including fresh fruit and vegetables.
This means healthier diets for growing children, allowing them to learn more effectively and thrive during those critical years. This means more nutritious food for senior citizens facing health challenges. This means working adults not having to worry about running out of food for their families at the end of the month.
We'll provide more details about this upcoming change soon and the broader implications for the anti-hunger movement. But for now, we wanted to share our excitement and thank you for being part of our advocacy efforts, which have brought us to this point.
With gratitude,
Joel Berg, CEO
