Dear John,

I hope you’ll join me for a virtual town hall hosted by OLCV today at 4pm. If you haven’t signed up yet, there’s still time to fill out the RSVP form and get a Zoom link before we get started this afternoon [[link removed]].

As your U.S. Senator, I’m looking forward to talking to you all about what we’ve been working on over here in Washington D.C.—the bills we’ve just passed that will help the country build back better, and the next steps we need to take in order to make the rapid transition away from fossil fuels to clean, renewable energy, boost our economy, and invest in the communities most affected by climate change.

The recent IPCC report has made it clear that we have no time to waste. If we don’t do something now about climate chaos, then future generations will inherit an Oregon burdened by even worse drought, even deadlier heatwaves, and even more extreme wildfires. That’s not the kind of future I want to leave for today’s young folks, and it’s not the kind of future I want for Oregon’s farms, fish, and forests.

I’m also looking forward to answering some audience questions, and connecting with climate activists and community members like you.

I hope to see you there to discuss our vision of a brighter future! Make sure to RSVP before 4pm in order to get the Zoom link [[link removed]].

Thank you,
U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley
