![]() Dear John,
The 19th amendment, which granted some women the right to vote, was formally published to the Bill of Rights on August 26th, 1920. However, as we come upon the 101st anniversary of that important day, we still have a long way to go to ensure women's equality.
The Equal Rights Amendment, which would ensure women have equal protection under the Constitution, is still not part of the Bill of Rights, despite getting the necessary number of states to ratify it.
In honor of these two amendments, we want to invite you to join Lillian's List and the ERA-NC alliance on Thursday, August 26th from 10 a.m. to noon at the N.C. Statehouse to celebrate women’s right to vote and demand ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment! Come hear from an exciting lineup of elected officials, nonprofit leaders, and community activists, including our very own Executive Director, Sarah Preston!
Hope to see you there, Team Lillian
