Unfair Treatment and Judgment in Health Care
Black and Hispanic/Latinx adults report experiencing discrimination when seeking health care at higher rates than white adults, which raises the question: how might these reported experiences affect health care?
New research from Urban Institute experts
explores the impact of unfair treatment or judgment across five different settings, including in hospitals or clinics.
For further reading, the research team provides two publications—one that explores
Black and African American adults’ perspectives on unfair treatment in health care
based on qualitative interviews, and another that provides a more
in-depth look at the adverse consequences of discrimination in health care
using a nationally representative survey of nonelderly adults.
