Starting today, these #EveryoneCounts Campaign Reports will be sent regularly to keep you updated on the campaign across Iowa.

In case we haven’t met yet, here’s a quick summary of who I am and why I’m running for U.S. Senate against Joni Ernst.

I've been fighting for justice as an attorney for neglected and abused children and for parents in our Iowa courts for 20 years. I’ve seen with my own eyes the results of our failure to invest in our people.

As you know, this race is absolutely critical - we’re one of four seats in the United States Senate considered “flippable”. I’m the best candidate to beat Joni Ernst because I can’t be bought, and I’m from a working class family. Unlike one of my Democratic opponents in this race, I can’t cut myself a $1 million dollar check to fuel my campaign.

I’m running to be the best Senator money can’t buy. Unlike Joni - and unlike another of my Democratic opponents - my campaign does not accept campaign contributions from corporate PACs or corporate lobbyists. In order to do this and win, it will take every single one of us pulling in the same direction.

I want to thank you for your patience and personally apologize to those of you who have waited months to begin receiving our email updates. I’ve been working hard (just me and one fantastic part-time staffer!) to build a grassroots campaign all across the state. I’ve visited 41 counties so far on my first 99 county tour and that’s taken a huge amount of time - Iowa is a big state!

But we recently hired our first wave of campaign staff and now we’re able to expand this fight from the ground in Iowa to the internet and the airwaves.
