John, things are not looking good.

I took a look at our fundraising numbers this morning and frankly, I’m losing hope that we’ll reach $500,000 by midnight tonight.

In fact, unless we get an enormous surge of support in the next few hours, I’m going to have to sit down with the rest of the team and talk about where to make cuts in our ad spending and voter outreach programs.

It’s devastating, John.

But I might be able to delay that conversation by just a little if we see an unprecedented surge of contributions — like, right now.
