Open for a rundown of where things stand after this hectic week

Indivisibles,

A lot happened this week, so let’s take a minute to get on the same page about where things stand. First, let’s remember our wins. Thanks to continued pressure from the Congressional Progressive Caucus, every one of our progressive priorities -- a pathway to citizenship, lower drug prices and Medicare expansion, and investments in climate, housing, and the care economy -- is in the budget resolution introduced in the Senate on Tuesday.

Of course, we were also dealt a setback as Republicans in the Senate once again blocked the For the People Act and refused to vote even on smaller, widely popular democracy reform provisions -- showing us yet again that they’re not negotiating in good faith, and that reforming the Senate and eliminating the filibuster are going to be crucial to implementing any of our top priorities.

Our wins this week are evidence that our strategies of grassroots power building and pressure really work. And our setbacks are evidence that we absolutely must keep fighting. Our work is harder now that census redistricting data has been released, but we still have time to stop the worst effects of the GOP’s anti-democratic grandstanding. So we’re taking these next few weeks to build up momentum, perfect our strategy, and get ready to fight hard as soon as senators return to D.C.

We need your support to make it possible. Everything we’re doing, over the next few weeks and once the Senate is back in session, relies on funding from the grassroots -- our call tools, digital and newspaper ads, on-the-ground organizing, and more. Can you donate $10 to fund all this work, fight for real democracy reform, and secure wins on all our top priorities?

We pride ourselves on being realistic about the fights we’re in -- which means celebrating when we’ve made strides, and making honest assessments of what comes next when things get tough. On all our top issues, we’re getting more and more confirmation that our strategies work, but that all the strength of this movement is going to be necessary to defeat GOP opposition. The people deserve a real democracy and a transformative recovery, and it’s up to us to demand nothing less.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
