During his travels to rural parts of the country, Trump has made promises
he never kept.

He promised to negotiate trade deals to help our farmers. He claimed he
would deliver phenomenal health care. And he said he would end the opioid
crisis in rural America.

Rural Americans are looking for answers and action, not empty promises. We
can’t afford to continue leaving millions of Americans behind.

As I’ve traveled the country this year, I’ve heard from so many people
left behind by Donald Trump.

I’ve heard from farmers in Iowa who’ve had to leave soybeans to rot in the
fields and New Hampshire families living with the effects of the opioid
crisis. Families in South Carolina who can’t connect to the Internet and
small business owners in Nevada who are struggling.

Time and again, politicians on both sides have let rural Americans down.

That’s what is at the core of our partnership. We must address these
issues with the following solutions if we want to make real, lasting
change in areas long forgotten by our leaders:

* Invest more than $100 billion to create jobs in rural America. I’ll
hold the wealthiest corporations accountable for paying their fair
share of taxes and push that money directly into bringing jobs back to
rural communities. I’ll also give an annual $10,000 Rural Jobs Tax
Credit for every rural job that businesses create.

* End Trump’s trade war on rural communities. I will immediately
eliminate Trump’s tariffs and end his failed trade war. I’ll hold
China accountable by working with a coalition of our allies, not by
throwing farming families under the bus.

* Stand up to Big Oil and Big Ag. I’ll hold big oil companies
accountable like I have my entire career, and I’ll reinstate rules
protecting family farmers from abuses of big agribusiness that the
Trump administration rescinded.

* Strengthen rural hospitals and health communities and boost women’s
and children’s health and maternity care access. Many hospitals in
rural counties have significantly reduced care especially for women
and children. We will redefine rural hospitals to tailor to the
community’s needs and reward existing hospitals that reinstate or
begin women’s and children’s health services to bring more care to the
most vulnerable in rural areas.

* Address the opioid crisis in rural America. People suffering from
addiction need their government to offer a comprehensive public health
response, including research, treatment, and access to life-saving
opioid overdose reversal drugs. I’ll make sure corporations pay for
fueling the opioid crisis.
