The improved Child Tax Credit is already making a difference for so many families.

Democrats in Congress passed the American Rescue Plan, putting money in families’ pockets so they have it when they need it most. This improvement is helping parents pay for their kids’ healthcare, education and school supplies, food and more. Look, I was raised by a single mom, and I know how quickly things can add up. I can only imagine what a difference these extra few hundred dollars would have made for our family.

It’s been a tough 18 months for working families across the country. With so much uncertainty, it’s clear that we need to put permanent systems in place to support workers and families, so that if and when we reach bumps in the road, every American has the support they need.

NewDems took the first step by leading the way to get the expanded Child Tax Credit passed in the American Rescue Plan. Now, we should do everything in our power to make this expansion permanent to give long-term support and peace of mind to the next generation of American parents.
