Stop Ethnic Cleansing in Silwan & Sheikh Jarrah, Jerusalem, and all of Palestine Dear Email, In the last few months, you have all shown up more than ever for Palestinian rights. While our collective efforts have an impact, Israel remains consistent in its goal to displace Palestinians from East Jerusalem. On Wednesday, August 11th, Israel proved its ethnic cleansing intent yet again in Silwan by bringing in bulldozers and demolishing one of the Odeh family homes. Several more families have received similar threats of displacement or have been forced to wait and watch their homes be demolished by the Israeli government. Let’s remain resolute in our fight against injustice by rising up this August for a Month of Action in solidarity with the steadfast Palestinian people who refuse to be expelled from their homeland. Today, Saturday, August 14, get loud on social media with #MakeNoiseForJerusalem and help make a difference. You can help make a difference today: -
Watch this video on (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram) and share it on all of your social media platforms. Make sure to tag congressional leadership @SpeakerPelosi @SenSchumer, and the Secretary of State @SecBlinken. -
Call congressional leadership and tell them to demand the Israeli government halt home demolitions and forced displacement immediately. -
Plan a protest outside your congressional officials’ district offices this month in order to stand against the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Jerusalem. -
Urge your Congress member to cosponsor HR 2590, the ‘Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act,’ which would prevent military funding to Israel to demolish Palestinian homes. -

Right now, the Israeli regime is continuing its colonial expansion and ongoing ethnic cleansing across all of Palestine, forcing Palestinians to demolish their own homes in Silwan, destroying the Bedouin community of Humsa al-Baqai’a in the occupied Jordan Valley, and repressing resistance through brutal military force and surveillance. Until there’s justice and Palestinians’ right to stay in their homeland is respected, we won’t allow peace and quiet for Congress in their home districts. For the rest of the month, with a coalition of 11 Palestine solidarity partner organizations, we’re planning to make noise in the streets and online. We will #MakeNoiseForJerusalem and all of Palestine with protests, local campaigns, and social media to put pressure on leading members of Congress responsible for perpetuating the US’ role in Israel’s ethnic cleansing. We will demand an end to US military aid to Israel, which actively fuels ethnic cleansing and apartheid, and work to pass important legislation, H.R. 2590. In August, more Palestinian communities in Jerusalem will face the threat of ethnic cleansing. Here are some key dates: -
Aug. 2: The Israeli High Court held a hearing on the pending dispossession orders for four families in Sheikh Jarrah and the outcome ended with the court offering these families a “compromise.” This compromise would allow these families to stay in their homes, for the coming years, but only if they agree to pay rent fees to the settler organization within Sheikh Jarrah. Residents rightfully refused this outrageous deal. -
Aug. 15: The demolition freeze on over 16 homes in Silwan’s Al Bustan neighborhood will expire, placing these Palestinian families at risk of ethnic cleansing at any time. -
Aug. 29: The Israeli High Court could decide to expel three families in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood of Silwan, likely impacting many other cases for local Palestinian families trying to remain steadfast in their homes. There’s no time to waste. Get started now by joining the social media storm this week and planning your next action. Check out our social media toolkit here. Thank you for rising up and taking action for Palestine. We can’t stop until it is free. Sincerely, | |
