Friend — earlier this month, the UN issued a climate change report that is being called a "code red" for humanity.

It calls out rapidly-escalating temperatures, rising sea levels, and record-breaking wildfires and droughts. For many of these consequences, we're already feeling the impacts — we can't let it get worse.

At LCV, we are mounting a massive campaign for what we see as our last, best chance to tackle the climate crisis head on. Right now, Congress is considering an ambitious $3.5 trillion investments package that includes major provisions on climate change. There is a real shot at passage: this bill needs a majority vote to pass in the Senate.

Lawmakers have just headed home to hear from their constituents on the bill. Over these weeks, our "surge" campaign represents the most significant environmental campaign, on the most important climate legislation, in a generation.

Our strategy: Compel action from Congress by showing highly visible grassroots support for action in priority districts. Senators and representatives must understand and see strong demand for climate action from their own constituents if there's any chance at moving the bill forward.

We've deployed a massive field program in eight states and 15 congressional districts, with 15 offices and 100 staff on the ground. Organizers in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia are going door-to-door canvassing to reach residents and businesses to pledge support for bold legislation by displaying "Climate Action Now" signs in their neighborhoods.

We're also running a media campaign to ensure that key members of Congress feel supported in taking strong action for clean energy, climate, jobs, and justice. Communications include new cable, broadcast TV, and digital ads in 16 states and 23 congressional districts, airing as members of Congress are home for August recess.
 
The campaign is working. Members of Congress have already reacted favorably to our ads. They are hearing from grassroots activists, seeing lawn signs in their home districts, encountering ads across multiple platforms — they're seeing support everywhere for action on climate now.

We have to keep this going in the lead-up to a vote in the coming weeks. So we're asking.
