John, become a Color Of Change supporter & protect your right to protest racial injustice.
John
This month marks 58 years since hundreds of thousands of Americans marched on Washington to defend the civil rights of Black communities.
And yet today, the very Constitutional rights to free speech and protest that underpinned the occasion for Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic “I have a dream” speech, are being threatened.
More than 100 anti-protest bills have been proposed, and in some cases passed, in the past year. That’s more than twice as many proposals as in any other year!
These bills threaten our right to protest injustice and white supremacy, while also granting impunity to counter-protesters who injure or harm us.
John, we cannot be silenced. From the March on Washington to the Black Lives Matter movement, civil unrest and protest are essential tools for our freedom. Can we count on you to chip in and power our campaigns to strike down these laws and equip protestors with tools to protect themselves?

John, make no mistake, these anti-protest laws are an attack on racial justice.
And eight states have already passed them!
- In Florida, Oklahoma, and Iowa, laws include protecting drivers who injure protesters with their cars.
- A proposed bill in Indiana would ban anyone convicted of unlawful assembly from holding state employment, including elected office;
- and bills pending in Minnesota and Oregon would disqualify people convicted of protest-related crimes from enrolling in public assistance programs and unemployment benefits.
We can fight this, John, but we need your help. Chip in whatever amount you can today to help Color Of Change continue our campaigns to protect our right to protest.
Police and prosecutors don’t need new laws to abuse our rights. But, that’s exactly what these laws would give them.
John, we need your support to defend our right to protest racial injustice, and hold the government officials, police and prosecutors who abuse their power accountable. So, if your budget allows it, can we count on you to continue showing up for Black lives?
