Dear John,
I know you care about the encouraging progress being made in the fight to end Alzheimer's disease. It isn't only scientists who make that kind of progress happen — it's also thanks to our community of supporters, people like you, helping to provide care and support around the clock and to accelerate vital research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure.
Our supporters help make research possible. It's only through the commitment of our community that we can continue our important work in providing Alzheimer's care and support and accelerating research. Here are just a few recent research advancements that are making a difference in the lives of those impacted by Alzheimer's disease:
- The Association is co-leading and providing seed funding for the ALZ SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Impact on Behavior and Cognition International Brain Study. Experts from nearly 40 countries will collect data to evaluate long-term consequences of the viral infection on the central nervous system, cognition, behavior and function in thousands of participants.
- At any given moment, experimental treatments are being advanced with Alzheimer's Association support. We are currently funding more than 40 early-stage clinical trials to test whether novel interventions are safe and effective for treating Alzheimer's and numerous other investigations to develop drugs and drug targets.
- To enable dementia researchers to develop blood biomarkers that are accurate and widely applicable across diverse populations, the Association is leading and funding a biorepository as part of the New IDEAS (Imaging Dementia — Evidence for Amyloid Scanning) Study. This study holds the potential to advance the identification of those likely to benefit from new dementia therapies as they become available as well as the validation of new experimental treatments.
Thank you so much for your dedication to ending Alzheimer's. It's only with your help that we can further our mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
Sincerely,
Donna McCullough
Chief Field and Development Officer
