Friends,

Our country has suffered a great loss today because Baltimore congressman and civil rights leader Elijah Cummings has passed. The flags in the Capitol are at half-staff, and our hearts go out to his loved ones and family.

Elijah was a true leader and public servant. He fought tirelessly for the people of Baltimore and for social justice each and every day. We named our son after Elijah in the hopes that he will emulate the character and grace of the man who dedicated his life to advancing justice and ending discrimination.

President Obama said it best when he said, “Cummings stood tallest and most resolute when our country needed him the most.”

We have lost the House’s North Star -- a man who led with grace and integrity. The Collective is sending a condolence note to Elijah’s family. If you would like to sign your name and leave a note to Cummings’ family, the card is linked here: https://act.myngp.com/Forms/1164836836882254336.

Thank you,
