We laid out our plan. Now the real work begins.

NRDC Action Fund Activist –

Wow. I'm still riding the wave of our summer activist webinar on Wednesday. We put out the call for emergency climate action, and we are blown away at the response. Nearly 500 activists joined us as we shared the details of the biggest grassroots advocacy campaign EVER to get Congress to pass strong legislation to tackle the climate crisis and help build a healthier and more equitable future for all.

That's HUGE. And that's the energy we need to make lawmakers in Washington hear our message loud and clear: We can't wait any longer for strong climate action. We've been building to this legislative opportunity for a decade, and we simply must get it done.

If you couldn't make the webinar, you can watch the recording or read the quick summary below for the next steps to get involved:

  1. Call your lawmakers in their district offices while they're home for August recess, reminding them that you're counting on them to pass strong budget reconciliation legislation that will tackle the climate crisis, accelerate our transition to a 100% clean energy future, ensure safe drinking water, and more. It only takes a minute, and there are two ways to call:
    • Text CLIMATE to 21333 and you'll get an instant call connecting you to your senator's district office. If you're feeling tongue-tied, the call recording has simple instructions on what to say. It's important that lawmakers get calls at home just as often as they do in D.C.!
    • Or, use this link to get your lawmakers' contact information and a sample script.
  2. Sign our petition to Congress: If you've already called your lawmakers, sign our petition urging Congress to support bold climate action.
  3. Join our growing volunteer community on Slack: Slack is a digital platform where you can connect with other activists and be the first to hear about more ways to get involved in this campaign. And it's where you'll be able to connect directly with our digital organizer Sam and the Action Fund team.

We're seeing record heat and drought in the American west, wildfires from California to Greece to Siberia, historic floods in Europe and China. And an alarming new scientific report from the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) shows that the impacts of climate change are getting worse — and happening faster than previously thought.

The United States can be a global leader in the climate fight, but only if we act fast — and that starts with supporters like you.

This fight won't be easy. Anti-environment politicians in Congress have the backing of multi-billion-dollar oil corporations and are going to obstruct any climate action every step of the way. But we have something they don't: all of us.

Thank you for all that you do — we're so excited to have you on board.
