"How the head of the NRA and his wife secretly shipped their elephant trophies home." - The New Yorker
20,000 elephants are killed by poachers and animal traffickers annually. The population of Asian elephants has declined by 50 percent in recent years.
Washingtonians sent a clear message by overwhelmingly approving Initiative 1401, the Washington Animal Trafficking Act.
Consequently, in Washington, those who profit by trafficking in threatened and endangered species will be held accountable.
I created an environmental crimes unit that specializes in animal trafficking cases. My office is successfully prosecuting more animal trafficking cases than the combined efforts of every county prosecutor in the state.
We recently wrapped up one of our largest cases yet — we secured a conviction against a business for illegal ivory trafficking. Our investigators found more than 100 pieces suspected of containing ivory on the shelves.
No one is above the law — and animal trafficking will not be tolerated in Washington as long as I’m Attorney General. Will you add your name here to show your support for our efforts to uphold these important safeguards? →

The head of the gun lobby may think he’s above the law, but if he attempts to traffic endangered species into Washington, we will hold him accountable.
(I’m 4-0 against the NRA, so I’m confident he doesn’t want to see me in court.)
The only way we can protect endangered wildlife and end this cruel practice is to have strong laws and consequences for those who violate them — and agencies willing to enforce those laws.
Add your name to stand with me.
