Continuity or Rupture? <[link removed]>
Dear Friend,
You've probably heard people say that the Catholic Church should change with the times.
Sadly, some within the Church are echoing this and even pushing to change her teachings.
But is this even possible? Can anyone actually change the Catholic Church's perennial teachings?

Pope St. Peter, Head of the Apostles and Guardian of Divine Revelation
The answer is a resounding NO! And any proposed change to the Church's doctrine is nothing but false teaching.
Why is this so? Because the Catholic Church's Doctrine is of divine origin, revealed by God Himself to the Apostles, the first Catholic Bishops.
Any authentic "development of doctrine" must be in continuity with Our Lord's teachings and with what the Apostles handed down to us. All alterations are false teaching and constitute a "rupture" with what the Apostles taught.
However, the phrase "development of doctrine" is often wrongly used to justify a rupture with Apostolic Teaching.
In his article "Continuity or Rupture," our dear friend Clemens Pater cites St. Vincent of Lerins and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in order to explain the true meaning of "development of doctrine."
