This week, the Senate came together across party lines and advanced the bipartisan infrastructure package that I have helped negotiate over the past few months.This legislation will not only make crucial investments in our nation’s recovery from this crisis, it will help put Virginians and Americans back to work rebuilding our infrastructure.

Some of the key wins for Virginians in this package include funding for:

* Repairing and rebuilding our roads, highways, and bridges
* Improving public transit systems, including the Metro system in Northern Virginia
* Upgrading passenger rail to increase travel options and reliability
* Supporting our airports, ports, and waterways
* Expanding broadband internet access across the Commonwealth
* Investing in our future by making our communities resilient to climate change

I’m looking forward to the day when President Biden officially signs this package into law.

We still have a lot of work ahead of us in the Senate, but I wanted to share this good news with you. Together, we’re proving that our government can still work for people across the country.
