Rodeo Torture Device Ban

Help Ban Torture Devices at Rodeos

L.A. Residents: Take Action to Support the Municipal Rodeo Ordinance

Dear John,

Earlier this year, the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously in favor of a Motion, brought forward by CouncilMember Bob Blumenfield, to ban the use of "inhumane implements" (such as electric prods, spurs, and flank straps) that force animals to perform in rodeos.

The Motion is now with the L.A. City Attorney's office to draft the Ordinance. If enacted, this historic Ordinance would essentially stop rodeos events from happening in L.A.

Unfortunately, the rodeo industry has launched a national campaign to oppose the Ordinance.

To ensure the Ordinance continues to move forward, the City Council needs to hear from YOU in support of the Motion. Use the link below to comment on the City Council Rodeo File. The more the City Council hears support from the public, the more likely this Ordinance will become law. Take action now. A sample comment is posted below.

Sample Comment:

I am writing as an L.A. Resident to express my full support for the rodeo inhumane implements ban in the City of Los Angeles, which was passed unanimously by CouncilMembers in February 2021. Rodeos are disturbing spectacles of animal cruelty that inflict tremendous suffering on animals forced to perform.

The City of Los Angeles has always taken a progressive approach to animal welfare and I commend the City Council for voting in favor of this Ordinance. I urge you to follow up to help ensure the rodeo inhumane implements ban is signed into law.

Sincerely,

(First Name, Last Name, Zip Code)

Thank you for taking action on behalf of the animals. Please forward this email to friends, family and coworkers who live in Los Angeles.

For the animals,
Mandy
