As the founding Co-chair of the House Caribbean and House Haiti Caucuses, I recently drafted a letter to President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, and Secretary of Homeland Security Mayorkas along with my House Haiti Caucus co-chairs outlining our goals in this caucus.
In this letter, I implored the Biden Administration to prioritize the needs of Haiti and members of the Haitian diaspora that call America home. Haiti is at an inflection point, and we need to work together to promote peace and a Haitian-led democratic government.
We continued by outlining the urgent concerns of the caucus regarding Haiti’s continued deteriorating situation. I believe I must uplift and support Haiti, not only as the daughter of an immigrant but as the representative serving a diverse immigrant community in NY-09.
By outlining our specific concerns and needs to prioritize Haiti’s democracy, civil rights, and liberty, I hope that we can harken in a new era for Haiti -- one in which every Haitian has a say in their government.
If you support my work to advocate for both Haiti and the Haitian diaspora in America, donate towards my re-election campaign so I can keep fighting for Haiti in 2022 and beyond.
