John,
A couple months ago, our team asked people to respond to a question: What issues should we focus on next?
Hundreds of you took time to respond to this survey, and I finally had some time to sit and read through the responses. Today, I wanted to share a few of them with you:
"Climate justice. We need bold, proactive change to mitigate the harmful effects of pollution and other things that are harming our climate and environment." "Increasing Social Security, so that we seniors would be a little bit better off." "Raising the minimum wage to $15.00 — as the floor, not the ceiling." "Voting rights and eliminating the filibuster are first priority." "Funding for public transportation and Medicare." "Strengthening public services, specifically the USPS, in low income neighborhoods." "Focus on making broadband available everywhere. The young folks need it. Their parents need it. Their grandparents need it." |
There were hundreds more responses just like this, but one thing is clear across the board: Our current systems are broken for most Americans. And John, I want to promise you that I am doing everything I can to make sure that we're legislating boldly while meeting the immediate needs of our communities.
Thank you for all that you do, John. Your support is what keeps our voice strong.
Peace and love,
Jamaal Bowman
