Submit your intentions for 3 Holy Masses in Honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 13, 14 and on the Solemnity, August 15.

Dear Friend,

The magnificent Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrates the greatest saint in the Catholic Church, the one who is the  closest to Jesus Christ. Just as during the season of Advent, before celebrating the Birth of Jesus and during the season of Lent, before the glorious Resurrection of Jesus, a good number of faithful Catholics from around the world - before August 15th, participate in a walking pilgrimage and do penance – this time mixed in with joy.  They travel on foot to a Catholic shrine - some even walking barefoot while praying the Holy Rosary and singing hymns, sleeping outdoors - offering up their pain and suffering (and inconveniences) to Jesus and His Mother Mary for their needs and those of their loved ones - for conversions, healings, as well as asking for the strength to overcome obstacles that seem impossible to achieve, but nothing is impossible for Jesus, through Mary. Priests also accompany the pilgrims, hearing confessions in the evening, saying Holy Masses and giving spiritual talks.

What can you do today as a sacrifice to God, on your own spiritual journey, in preparation for the Solemnity and as a sacrifice for Cardinal Burke’s restoration to good health?  Can you skip a snack, not eat between meals or eat a smaller portion of your meal?  How about fasting from your favorite television program, watching the news, setting aside time to pray instead of being on the phone with a friend or spending time on social media?  Begin your sacrifice by saying: “Oh glorious Mother Mary, I wish to offer you this________ as a sacrifice. Please come to my aid to accomplish that and hear all of my intentions that I have submitted in this novena.

Please say this prayer, not only for your own needs but also for the needs of Cardinal Burke, to quickly return to good health, as well as for all who are suffering from contagious viruses and diseases:

O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, especially Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke.

At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith.

You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.

We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee,

joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will

and to do what Jesus tells us:

He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us,

through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.

Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

(Mention your personal intentions now, also that Cardinal Burke quickly returns to good health, and for all who are suffering from contagious viruses and diseases)
