Subject I am writing to ask if I can count on you to make a $2.70 contribution to our campaign – especially today. On the day after our pledge, it will send a powerful message that people have had ENOUGH of the health care and pharmaceutical industries' influence on our candidates and on our government.

In just a moment, I am going to ask you to make a contribution to our campaign. Please give me a chance to explain why this request — especially today — is so important.

As you know, yesterday I called on every candidate in this race to reject campaign contributions from health care and pharmaceutical executives and political action committees.

And the reason I asked the other candidates to take this pledge is because I fundamentally believe we will never change our corrupt and dysfunctional health care system if our candidates keep taking its money.

Instead, we are funding our campaign a different way. Not with health care lobbyists, but with donations from those who believe health care should be a right. Not with pharmaceutical CEOs, but with families who are sick of their greed.

So today — on the heels of calling on candidates to take our pledge – it’s critical we generate as many contributions as we can from people who have had enough of a health care system that prioritizes the profits of the few over the health of the many. So here is where I have to ask:

Can I count on you to please make a contribution today — especially today — as a way of saying you have had ENOUGH of health care and pharmaceutical companies' influence on our candidates and on our government?

In the last fundraising quarter, we had more donations than any candidate. By far. But a few of them raised more money than us. So we have to close the gap. Not by begging rich people for money, but because lots and lots of people chip in to help us win this race and transform this country.

In solidarity,

Bernie Sanders
