The Governor of Oregon just signed a law to suspend the state’s proficiency requirements for reading, writing, and math in the name of “equity.”
Gov. Boyle said he is doing so as the state develops new graduation standards that will benefit “Oregon’s Black, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.”
This “woke” action puts all students, but particularly those already at risk, at a grave disadvantage in life.
This is par for the course in our government-run education system. Many public school districts are replacing basic reading, writing, and math instruction with controversial, radical topics, like Critical Race Theory. Increasingly it seems they care a lot less if your kids can read or write, so long as they have embraced a progressive political ideology.
If you *dare* question, raise concerns about, or speak out against this in certain settings, you risk being “canceled,” shunned, or shamed.
Politically-charged teachers unions and special interest-backed school boards are waging an all-out war against parents.
This isn’t just petty, internal politics. They’ve been given a budget to launch political style attacks to squash the opposition to CRT and indoctrination of students.
Politics doesn’t belong in the classroom. It’s time for all Americans to WAKE up.
If you’ve had enough of teachers unions + union-backed school board members putting their self-interests ahead of students’ best interests, then speak up.
