Friend, let this sink in:
When the insurrectionists stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, the federal authorities – aka Trump's people – had jurisdiction over the National Guard and police. That's because D.C. isn't a state – and that needs to change.
The 700,000 Americans who live in D.C. have no representation in the House or the Senate. That's more than the amount of residents in either Wyoming or Vermont – each of which get two senators and a representative in the House.
And while D.C. residents pay more in federal income taxes than residents in 22 other states, they have NO SAY in how these dollars get spent. That's taxation without representation, full stop.
