Last year, the electric utility company FirstEnergy Corp. sought to cheat the people of Ohio by paying off public officials in exchange for a $1 billion bailout for two of its power plants in Ohio.
Republican Larry Householder, now-former Ohio House Speaker, fully embraced the bribery and coordinated the money laundering scheme -- securing millions of dollars from dark money groups for his fake nonprofit Generation Now.
This is egregious. The financial rescue of corporations should not fall on the shoulders of Ohio’s taxpayers. Special interests exert far too much power in Columbus and Washington. We must put a stop to this.
It’s been difficult securing investments for our district to get fair standing, and corporations using their influence to buy out our lawmakers is not only wrong but extremely unfair to the people they represent in Ohio.
The future of our country is at risk unless we achieve significant campaign finance reform. Can you chip in $15 to help me keep this seat in Congress in the hands of working people and so I can keep fighting for you, NOT for special interest groups?
