In Memory of Elijah Cummings

(October 17, 2019, Washington, DC) – Today we mourn the passing of U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, who died at the age of 68 at a hospice center in Baltimore. We are profoundly saddened by the loss of one of our country’s leaders in the fight to end homelessness and poverty. He was a champion for so many causes, including improving the lives and upholding the dignity of vulnerable individuals.

The Law Center is grateful to have had the chance to honor Rep. Cummings at the McKinney-Vento Awards last year for his longstanding advocacy. His speech inspired every single one of us at the Law Center, and so many more. We will deeply miss Congressman Cummings and hope to carry his fearlessness, passion, and integrity in our work every day.
